Survey Results

The Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) conducts statistical surveys of  the Class 'A' and Class 'B' banks, namely the Locational Banking Statistics (LBS) Survey, the Domestic Banking Activity (DBA) Survey and the Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey (CPIS).

Locational Banking Statistics (LBS) Survey

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) collects data on international banking activity on a quarterly basis from 40 reporting countries, one of which is the Cayman Islands. The data is aggregated for international claims and liabilities, broken down by instrument, currency, sector and country of residence of counterparty, and nationality of reporting banks.

The results of the survey are published on the BIS website and can be accessed by clicking on "LBS Data" .

Domestic Banking Activity (DBA) Survey

The information collected by CIMA from the Class 'A' banks is seperated into Class 'A' retail and Class 'A' other. The data from the Class 'A' retail banks is aggregated as an Other Depository Corporations Survey and is currently published in the Money and Banking section of the Economics and Statistics Office Annual Economic Report.

The results of the survey can be accessed by clicking on Statement of Assets and Liabilities - Domestic Retail Banks 2003-2010Q2

Coordinated Portfolio Investment Survey (CPIS)

The CPIS is conducted by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a tool in capturing the worlds totals and geographic distribution of the holdings of portfolio investment assets, thereby contributing to a better understanding of capital flows. Data is collected on equity securities, short-term and long-term debt securities by country of residence of issuer.

The results of the survey are published on the IMF website and can be accessed by clicking "CPIS Data" .
